Lake Palace 1 2
Originally known as the Jag Niwas, took three years to build and was inaugurated in 1746, was built by Maharana Jagat Singh II (1734-51) as a summer palace to escape the heat of Jaipur.Nothing but marble is used in the composition of this palace. Undoubtedly the most familiar and photogenic feature of Udaipur, the palace is indeed a reverie in pure white marble. The palace is an amazing confection of delicate columns, filigreed screens, cupolas and fountains. Now converted as a luxury hotel, you can visit the palace for lunch or afternoon tea.

Jag Mandir
Jag Mandir, another island palace in the Lake Pichola was built by Karan Singh in 1615. It derives its name from Jagat Singh who added to the initial structure. It was never used for the purpose for it was built. This palace was used to provide shelter to the Mughal prince Khurum (later Emperor Shah Jahan) who rebelled against his emperor father Jahangir, in the 1620s. Jahangir was succeeded by Shah Jahan who was still in Udaipur at the time of his father's death. During the 1857 Mutiny this island palace once again served as a safe haven for European women and children. One can go to the island in a boat that starts from Bansi Ghat jetty.

Crystal Art Gallery
It is situated in the Fateh Prakash Palace is a breath taking collection of crystals. Maharana Sajjan Singh mainly ordered these crystals from F & C Osler England. But he could not see the crystals because of his untimely death. The crystal item includes tables, sofa sets, dinning table, dressers, fountains and even beds besides a whole array of washing bowls, decanters and perfume bottles. There is also an exquisite jewel studded carpet, which is beyond description.

Sahelion Ki Bari
The "garden of the maids of honour", Sahelion-ki-Bari was designed and laid out early in the eighteenth century as a retreat for ladies of the royal household to spend their time in leisure. The lotus pool, fountains, lawns, flowerbeds, and marble pavilions all combine to make it a captivating place.

Moti Magri
An impressive Bronze statue of Maharana Pratap and his favourite and loyal horse "Chetak", who was fiercely protective about his master and stood by him till his last breathe, stands at the top of Moti Magri (Pearl Mount) over looking Fateh Sagar. Local people climb the hill to pay homeage to Rana Pratap and his faithfull charger "Chetak", who was killed in the battle of Haldighati. There are the ruins of one of the first Udaipur's forts and there is also a charming Japanese Rock Garden not far away.

Nehru Island Garden (Fateh Sagar Lake)
This oval shaped island garden is situated amidst the Fateh Sagar Lake spread in about 2160 sq.ft. In order to reach this romantic garden, you have to take a boat ride in the lake. The lush green garden with its water fountains, flower gardens and a lilly pond offers truly an eye-soothing view for any observer. The garden also comprises a restaurant where you can enjoy the lip-smacking dishes along with the scenery of green Aravalli Hills.

Shilpgram - The Handicrafts Village
This is a cultural center and village just outside Udaipur. This crafts village has huts from Rajasthan, Gujarat, Maharashtra and Goa faithfully replicated. Shilpgram provides a platform for the rural craftsmen representing these regions to exhibit their talents. It is a "living ethnographic museum" that gives you a peep into the rural lifestyle of Western India. You can see demonstrations by folk musicians, dancers and artisans from various states. The village is more alive during festival times. The puppet shows and folk dances are really entertaining.
